The oil pan serves as a reservoir for the engine
lubricating system and as a housing for the lower
internal engine parts. A gasket is located between the
pan and the cylinder block to prevent loss of oil.
(2) Complete the cylinder head installation by
reversing the instructions outlined under "Cylinder Head
(2) Drain the oil (Operator's Manual).
(3) Adjust the exhaust valves and time the
injectors (Operator's Manual).
(3) Remove bolts, gasket, and oil pan from
the engine block.
Engine Oil Pan
a. General. The engine oil pan is located at the
