pipe. The exhaust manifold expels burned exhaust gas
aspirator to the atmosphere.
4-44. Muffler and Pipe
a. Removal. Refer to figure 4-29 and remove the
muffler and pipe.
b. Inspection.
(1) Inspect muffler for cracks, holes or leaks.
(2) Inspect the pipe for cracks or rust.
(3) Inspect all clamps and mounting hard- ware.
Replace all defective parts as necessary.
c. Disassembly.
(1) Disconnect pipe (1, fig. 4-9) from the shield and
elbow (2).
(2) Remove bolt (8) from clamp (7) and remove
elbow (10).
(3) Remove clamp (14) from aspirator (12).
(4) Loosen nut (11) and remove aspirator (12).
d. Reassembly. Reassembly is the reverse order of
disassembly.
e. Installation. Refer to figure 4-29 and install the
muffler and pipe.
