GENERAL MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Section I. SPECIAL TOOLS AND EXUIPMENT
13. Special Tools and Equipment
There are no special tools or equipment needed by organizational maintenance personnel for maintenance of the
jaw crusher.
14. Organizational Maintenance Repair Parts
Organizational maintenance repair parts are listed and illustrated in TM 5-3820-205-20P/2.
Section II. LUBRICATION
15. General
This section contains instructions for the lubrication of the jaw crusher, wheel bearings, adjusting gearboxes, and
starter inboard bearings. Refer to LO 5-3820-205-20/2 'for the proper time intervals and grade of lubricant to be used.
16. Lubricating the Wheel Bearing Assemblies
a. Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly, Removal and Disassembly. Remove and disassemble the wheel bearings
b. Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication. Clean the wheel bearings and hubs with an approved cleaning solvent.
Dry all parts thoroughly. Inspect all parts for wear and damage. Replace all unserviceable parts. Pack the wheel
bearing assemblies just prior to reassembly and installation (LO 53820-205-20/2).
c. Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly, Reassembly and Installation. Reassemble and install the wheel bearings
17. Lubricating the Adjusting Gearboxes
a.
Adjusting Gearbox Cover Removal. Remove the adjusting gearbox covers and gasket (par. 156). Discard
gasket.
b.
Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication.

Clean and inspect all parts.
(2)
Pack the adjusting gearboxes with proper type and grade of lubricant (LO 5-3820-205-20/2).
c. Adjusting Gearbox Cover Installation. Use a new gasket and install the gasket and adjusting gearbox covers
18. Lubricating the Starter Inboard Bearings
a.
b. Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication. Lubricate the starter inboard bearings in accordance with LO 5-3820-
205-20/2.
c.
Starter Installation. Install the starter (par. 86).
Section III. PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICES
19. General
To insure that the jaw crusher is ready for operation at all times, it must be inspected systematically, so that defects
may be discovered and corrected before they result in serious damage or failure. The necessary preventive
maintenance services to be performed are listed and described in paragraph 20. The item num-
