Section VIII. ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
102. General
The engine cooling system consists of a fan guard, radiator and shroud, thermostat and housing, water
manifolds, water pump, and suitable hose, lines, and clamps. The water pump takes the water from the bottom
of the radiator and circulates the water through the engine block for cooling the engine. The water AGO 8156A
temperature is controlled by the thermostat to keep the engine at operating temperature. The water is cooled
by the fan pulling cool air through the radiator fins as the water passes through the radiator.

a. Removal. Remove the fan guard as instructed on figure 48.
