4-56. V-Belts.
The V-belts on the crushing unit drives are matched sets
and are coded or marked with definite length ranges. V-
belts will not slide in the sheave groove during operation to
equalize the tension caused by incorrect installation, belts
should never be rolled on or forced over the grooves with a
tool as shown in figure 4-48.
a. Removal.
(1) Remove the V-belt guards (para 4-83).
(2) Release V-belt tension (para 4-57).
(3) Remove V-belt from grooves (fig. 4-48).
b. Inspection.
(1) Inspect drive belts for oil deposits.
(2) Inspect V-belts for cracking or wear and replace
if necessary.
(3) Check pulley grooves for wear.
c. Installation.
(1) Move adjustment to obtain minimum center
distance between pulleys (para 4-57a thru 4-57e).
(2) Refer to figure 4-48 and install the V-belts.
(3) Adjust V-belt tension (para 4-57).
(4) Install V-belt guard (para 4-83).
